In 1999, Low Budget Films, known then as CGS Entertainment, began construction on costumes, wigs and sets for the first season. With only a handful of people, the creative artists had limited resources for allowing the studio to reach its full potential. Over the next few years the costume team, set designers, and prop department collaborated over many short films.
In 2004, during the making of "The Lord of the Rings," the creative teams expanded, making it possible to work on larger projects. When the studios changed its official name to Low Budget Films and began work on "Jedi Wars," the visual arts teams grew and the LBF Workshop was born. The Workshop now included the costume makers, prop department, set design, puppet shop, and conceptual artists. The Workshop continued to expand until WOW Animation and Totally Crappy Sound separated into their own entities. With the removal of these divisions, the Workshop was able to effectively focus on the tactile aspects of filmmaking.
During the production of "Munchinton the Last Stand," the Workshop incorporated 24 individuals creating costumes, building sets, constructing puppets and props. Because of MTLS the Workshop became more established and was able to incorporate the talents of Ali Beuning as lead make-up artist in "The Lucky." During the creation of "Utter Mayhem," other creators such as Jarrod Boucher, Russ Walko, Pierre Gillete, and Michele Aquin joined the creative team. The Workshop continues to play a pivotal role in the filmmaking process.
