About
Low Budget Films (LBF) is an independent film studio based in Minneapolis, MN. LBF has produced countless short films and three full-length films. The LBF crew has grown from just a few individuals to over 30 people who have dedicated their time, talent, and treasure in making enjoyable films.
LBF began over ten years ago as "CGJS Studios" and started working on short, comedic films. Many characters, such as Jaquanna and the Munchins, grew in popularity over a short period of time. All of the short films were organized into "seasons" based on the years they were released.
In 2004, CGJS Studios released the first film in the "Chronicles of Munchinton" trilogy, "The Lord of the Rings." This 37 minute film brought over many characters from the previous seasons. It also began a long four year process of creating the new trilogy.
The film studio changed it's name to Low Budget Films in 2005 and continued making short films for Season 3. As the season of short films was wrapping up, LBF writers began writing the next full-length film, "Jedi Wars."
Jedi Wars was premiered on August 17, 2006 after six months of production. The film blazed a new trail for LBF in computer innovation and it combined the talents of over 30+ individuals. The film also introduced many new characters and locations that would be used in future projects.
"Munchinton The Last Stand" is the final movie in the Chronicles of Munchinton trilogy. The film is still the most expensive, longest, and time-consuming project LBF has ever worked on. Pre-production began in Oct. 2006 and it was premiered on Dec. 21, 2007. It is by far the largest LBF project with the number of cast members (50+), locations, costumes, and visual effects. The film broke new ground for LBF and opened doors to new opportunities.
Season 4 kicked off with "The Lucky" in 2008. Other new short films were also debuted and a new web-series, "Utter Mayhem" premiered in 2009. The 20th Utter Mayhem segment and 75th LBF film, "Sleigh Ride," debuted on Dec. 23, 2010. The LBF cast and crew continued to expand and "The Lucky II" and "The Lucky III" debuted in 2011.
The future has never been brighter for LBF! We eagerly look forward to new adventures and new opportunities!
